What is an iPhone LCD/OLED screen made of?

An iPhone display usually constitutes multiple small components to form a complete display assembly (“display”).

    1. LCD/OLED Screen: The main part of the iPhone screen is an LCD or OLED screen that usually forms the image with brightness and colours. The display picture quality is dependent on the type of screen used. The screen gets connected to the mainboard through a flex cable.
    2. Capacitive Touch Sensor: A capacitive touch film is placed (it’s usually fused with the screen) on the LCD or OLED which response to your touch on the glass. The touch sensor gets connected to the mainboard through a flex cable.
    3. Outer Glass: This is a high-quality Glass which is usually produced by a company named ‘Corning’. Most of the leading smartphone manufacturers used Corning’s glass for their smartphones.

The screen, touch sensor, and the outer glass are fused or bonded together to form the main display assembly or display combo usually called in the repair industry.

What is the Quality of Display being used for my iPhone screen replacement?

First things first, Apple does not manufacture displays for its iPhone. Nearly all iPhone displays are manufactured by Samsung or other certified manufacturers, who supply displays to iPhone manufacturers such as Foxconn and others. Displays for iPhones are available in many qualities. What differentiates in quality is the process of manufacturing. The parts mentioned above can either be hand bonded or machine bonded. The quality assurance process set up by the manufacturer is an important factor in producing quality displays.

Soldrit has always been very careful in choosing the parts being used for their customers. We have tried and tested different quality displays before selecting a quality suitable for our customers. The displays that we use are not in any case original displays, however, they are very close to the originals in performance. You may not be able to make the difference with a naked eye. Even the best of the processes set up by companies have an error percentage, which we firstly acknowledge and thereby provide a 12 months warranty on the display, in case any manufacturing defects do occur in the displays we use.

It’s very important to note that the warranty usually does NOT cover physical damage or accidental damage. Broken displays are usually not covered under warranty, even by the OEMs.

Yes, it is usually worth fixing a cracked iPhone screen. While it may be tempting to continue using the phone with a cracked screen, it can actually cause further damage to the device and make it more difficult to use. Here are a few reasons why it’s worth fixing a cracked iPhone screen:

    1. Prevent further damage: A cracked screen can allow dust and debris to enter the phone, potentially causing damage to internal components.
    2. Preserve functionality: A cracked screen can make it difficult to use the phone, as touch inputs may not register correctly or the screen may be unresponsive.
    3. Maintain resale value: If you plan to sell or trade in your iPhone in the future, a cracked screen can significantly lower its value.
    4. Safety: A cracked screen can pose a safety risk, as sharp glass fragments may break off and cause injury.

In most cases, it’s more cost-effective to repair the screen rather than replace the entire phone. Additionally, We at Soldrit offer affordable screen replacement services that can be completed quickly.

Glass only replacement is possible, you have machines available just to do that. However, the process to replace the glass is completely manual and does not come with warranty. Over time the replaced glass will start forming bubbles between the lcd and the glass and you will end up with a screen having touch issues. We, therefore, do not provide glass replacement service and simply replace the screen. In case glass replacement is the only service that a customer wants, they can look for local repair shops that might provide such service. Please note, none of the vendors will be providing any warranty on glass replacement which itself proves that the vendors themselves do not trust their workmanship.

If your iPhone lcd and glass has no physical damage and your touch screen is not responding, it could be a hardware related issue. There is a good chance that your iPhone touch IC needs to be replaced. Such an issue is very common in iPhone 6/6s/7/7Plus models. Soldrit undertakes such repair and provides chip level / board level services to other repair service centres.

If the display starts flickering, or has any lines for that matter, all such cases will be covered under the 12 months warranty. It’s very important to note that the warranty usually does NOT cover physical damage or accidental damage. Broken or cracked glass displays are usually not covered under warranty, not even by the OEMs.
